Hmm...it's no easier for the women folk either! I have frequented all the above establishments mentioned by Ian, and found that I get more requests for dances at SOS and My Place. My experience (and I stress this is MY experience) is that when I've gone to those other venues, where the "real people and not performers" dance (honest.. someone actually said that to me), the dances have been few and far between..people arrive as couples or in groups and don't dance with anyone else outside that group..for instance, I went to the Ion Bar in Ladbroke Grove.. was told it was a kicking venue..got there.. loads of guys there, dance floor was packed.. I had 4 dances in 2 hours! Had a similar experience at the Loughborough Hotel recently.. My advice to Messrs Palon and Cooke..don't be discouraged.. keep practicing and keep asking, don't sit/stand in the same place, walk around, watch the dancers, take note of the ones who are creating an enjoyable experience for the lead as well as themselves... there are plenty of women at these venues who I'm sure would dance with you.. you just have to ask them.
