Adding an event to UKSalsa.com is a simple matter of filling in some details. Please check below for details on the exact information you need to supply.

Registration

To add an event to the What's On guide, you will need to be a registered user of the Chat section of this site. If you are not already a registered user, please join before going any further.

Regular Club Nights

You should add a club night for any regularly occuring event such as a weekly Salsa night, Salsa lessons or monthly socials. This option allows you to add the information once, and then have it associated with multiple dates.

Note that you will have to select which dates your regular club night will happen on (rather than just specifying "Every Tuesday", for example). This means that this category can be used even when there is no simple pattern for when the club nights will be run.

Special Events

Special events are the "one off" Salsa nights you run. Maybe you've got a special teacher, performer or DJ coming to your Salsa event. This option only allows the information you've entered to be associated with a single date (as opposed to the way the "regular club night" option works).

Festivals

The "special events" option only allows your event to occur on a single date. For events which occur over a longer period (such as a weekend or a week), you need to use the "festivals" option. This allows you to specify both a start date and an end date.

Edit Existing Events and Club Nights

If you have already added information about events and want to change some of that information (for example, add extra teachers to an event or add extra dates to a regular class), you can get a list of existing events here, which you can then go on to edit.

  • I hold a monthly Salsa night. Is this a "regular club night" or a "special event"?

    The answer to that is: "it's up to you". It's basically a trade-off between you only needing to enter the information once (if you enter it as a regular club night) but the same information is shown whichever night anyone clicks on; and you entering the information multiple times for each of the nights (if you enter it as a special event) but different information is shown depending on which night is clicked on.

    My recommendation would be that if it's a regular monthly event with the same thing happening each month (like a monthly social), then enter it as a regular club night. If you change the line-up every month (different guest teachers every month), then enter a series of special events.

  • I hold a regular weekly club night, but once a month I bring in a guest teacher. What's the best way to handle that?

    When you enter a regular club night, you specify the nights that the club night will occur on. If you have guest teachers coming to some of those nights, then just don't select that night as a regular club night and add a special event for the night with the guest teacher. This can also be applied in any situation where you want a non-standard description of your night (such as a charity night or a themed party).
